Ian TownendEnterprise Business Architect
Ian has worked in the health sector for over 10 years initially developing national messaging solutions based around the NHS Spine. He continued to work in this area whilst adding standards to his area of work developing national data collections. In 2013 he moved to NHS England to oversee the standards process and work on secondary uses data collections strategy. In 2014 Ian took on the interoperability agenda for NHS England covering four major areas: NHS Number, Open Interfaces, Transfer of Care and Supporting Local Interoperability.
In addition to the development of national strategy and policy in these areas, he is working closely with the HSCIC, provider and supplier communities to oversee implementation.
He sits on national information board sub-committees relating to interoperability, secondary uses of data and standards. He is also a member of the standardisation committee for care information which governs the process of standards development for the NHS.
